Indiana is a state of US. This is the 19th declared to the Union. It is positioned in the Great Lakes district, and with approximately 6.3 million inhabitants, is ranked 16th in residents and 17th in people compactness. Indiana is ranked 38th in ground area and is the minimum state in the continental US west of the Appalachian peaks. Its capital and prime city is Indianapolis. It is a miscellaneous state with a large metropolitan region, a quantity of smaller industrialized cities and many more small towns. It is also well known for it’s nationally sports groups and athletic events.
Indiana’s inhabitants are called Hoosiers. Even though many stories are told the derivation of the term is unidentified. The state's name is "Land of the Indians" or simply "Indian Land".
